Cannot insert fishing seats into mounts

We just bought a 2010 Tahoe 215xi. Love the boat but . . . It has three mounting points for the pedestal fishing seats, I cannot get the posts to go in - the black plastic bushings are visibly too small. What gives?

The post is a straight aluminum tube with a quarter inch or so keyway in it, to prevent rotation. From what I've read it appears to be made by Springfield Marine and is 2-2/8 inch in diameter. How do I fix this?

Thanks.

Re: Cannot insert fishing seats into mounts

My seats would always pick up the storage mount and make it impossible to install in the seat mounts. The storage mounts are about 4 inches long and look like the fishing seat mounts. see if it is stuck in the bottom of the seat pole.

Thanks - I'm familiar with that problem. My issue is at the other end. I have Springfield Marine Plug-in mounts. I checked it with calipers and the base diameter is 1/64 smaller than the pedestal.
