Im just wondering if a splice is a bad Thing in the Fuel hose line? Im kinda not thrilled with it but If you see my other "Valve/ solenoid What the hell is this thing thread" I need to replace the hose from boost pump to the valve thing and One end has a Male threaded end on hose..Compressed/squeezed. Can I use the 3/8 barb Or will it restrict fuel flow? Or should I get a Male threaded end 3/8 I believe..and barbed other end and connect there? 2003 searay 5.0 MPI bravo 3

That fitting is a 3/8" flare fitting. You should be able to get that at your local West Marine or any other marine hardware store.

Personally, I would put on a new hose with barbed fittings on the filter and the tank. Just one less connection to develop a fuel or air leak in the future.

That chaulky substance is probably corrosion from the valve. Flared fittings do no use pipe dope.
Don't complicate the issue, a piece of type A1 CG approved hose clamped to barbed fittings is an industry standandard method of going from the tank to the fuel filter

Re: Can You splice?

Do what Don says. Single length of hose from tank to filter. Petrol is not something you want leaking into the bilge!

In answer to your original question "Is a splice a bad thing?" Yes

I think you misunderstood..The flare fitting itself doesnt have pipe dope, its on the threads into the valve. SOOOO..what Im gonna do is use a barbed fitting , thread it into valve and hook it up that way..like you said. The main question is does anyting go on the threaded end that screws into the valve? Not tape but anything else? I Believe I should use Brass fitting too right?

I usually use 2 clamps on each if possible..I just need to know what to use on the threads..If anything?
