I'd even be tempted to go for a 13" pitch prop to get much better acceleration. As long as the boat will do 20 kts (23 mph) it should be enough for learning to slalom ski on one. Once your crew has the hang of it, go up to a 15" prop for better top speed. And all who have suggested using the lowest possible trim position are correct, it will help with both holeshot and avoiding ventilation in the turns.

My fiance skis behind a Alumcraft w/ 40hp, but she weighs 105 lbs.

Growing up, my friends would ski behind a 16' boat with 70 hp all day and night. 3-4 teens and a skier.

the prop is a 13 3/8 x 17 and i will have to try and bring the motor in more i guess and give it a shot .
I am new to this forum thing so i made new thread accidently about how im 250lbs and think that my weight might be an issue because my brother who is 150 lbs and never skied before got right up. and with me the skis seem to sink when tring to get up. oh and i have had everybody in front of boat the whole time mostly two adults and 2 year old and one adult driver .

I might have missed it in the thread, but were you and your brother using the same skis? If so, you might want to see if you can borrow a larger set.

you should have no problem with that motor. and a 15" will make a differance. i have a dt 75 suzuki and I used the correct prop section of this forum to find out if i have the right prop, as i carry quite a bit of wieght when i go fishing, my 16' boat 75 hp 2 stroke and about 1800 pounds gas, gear and beer and i was still able to do about 32 mph and had no trouble getting on plane. check out prop section it will be a great help.
