We are at a marina on lake Erie and we have this bird that hangs out in the marina from about May to October for the last 4 years. I can't tell what it is. It looks like a cross between a Canadian and a Snow goose. It is the only one like it. We have alot of Canadian geese and Mallard ducks but only one of these. Does anyone know what this is?

We have a few of those here too.
It started about 9 years ago when there were canadian, grayleg and barnyard geese in our local pond. They interbred and the next year we had a riot of different colored geese. The whiter ones dissapeared faster than the other ones, probably they were easier visible prey, but we still have a few with white spots returning to the pond.

Any goose from Canada is a Canadian goose.

Only the birds of that species are Canada geese, even if they spend year-round in USA.

I agree with the above; that looks like a greylag to me.

I believe your mystery bird is a White fronted goose. But the white on the face goes to far back. Could also possibly be a hybrid Canada goose.
