Oregon just passed a law that made it ILLEGAL to watch a TV while driving!
Along the same lines as passing a law last year making it illegal for the sicko's to have their 'way' with animals.

I thought it was always illegal...

BUT...They still won't make a law against driving and talking on a cell phone. Guess they haven't met the accident quota yet.

Only in Oregon. Same place that has braille writing on drive-up ATM's !

H.

We have braille on the drive thru ATMs here in SC too. At least they can drive in Oregon. Here in SC they can barely drive when it is sunny, imagine when it's wet (I am from PA, 6" of snow is nothing, much less rain).

The ATMs are made to be used as either drive up or walk up.

The buttons are all made the same. Walk ups may have the option for voice instructions.

Poor sheepherders. I guess the cattlemen got in another shot. :D

Hey Homerr, just curious about Oregon. Do they have a law about reading and driving?

A law in Ohio I just found out about from an employee, is that if your arrested for possession of pot, they take your drivers license for 6 months. Same with being in a boat, if you have been under the influence, your drivers license is suspended. I think your drivers license should only be suspended if it involves moving violations.

I guess with that new animal law, the rubber boot sales will be down. :)

Well Mayfloat....

Reading and driving falls under the 'Distracted driving' law. So I'm told anyways.

Guess that wouldn't work when you run a stop sign: Honest officer..I didn't want to be distracted while reading that sign' LOL

Distracted driving...So why don't they nail the folks who almost ran me over when they was talking on their phones?

H.

Cell phones bug me too. I've been rear-ended twice at stop lights by people talking on phones and not paying attention. Now I just leve my BIG trailer hitch installed all the time. They'll have to go through a lot of heavy steel before they get to my truck again.

Re: Can you believe this?

I wish some of these congressmen would grow a set of "Stones" and push to ban Cell phone use while driving. I dont have a problem with the hands free stuff, but when some idiot has one hand on his phone and the other holding the newspaper while his knee steers the car...

I wish they would pass a law that anyone caught talking on a cellphone while driving get their drivers license taken away for 3 months. The small fines they charge people now do nothing to stop the practice.

It's too bad auto manufacturers can build in cancelling devices to kill c-phones that are inside the cars. That would also solve the problem

Yes, I'm venting... I got stuck behind this horses hind today who was holding his phone with one hand while "talking" with the other. He was swerving all over the road...even made one car vear off onto the median to avoid being clipped.

Nav

The cell phone thing is a real problem. Here in Pa. certain townships have passed laws that make talking on the cell and driving punishable by a fine. As far as I'm concerned it should bs state wide.

How do they find sheep in tall grass in Oregon?

Very pleaseing ;)

----------
Flathead

LOL!

They actaully can't find any sheep. Tey're too bust trying to run away!

Velcro chaps and rubber boots works nicely. LOL

Besides. It's now illegal to get 'frisky' with 'ol Bessy sheep. It's probably an underground business now ran by the Government.

Hmmm...

Maybe I should do that as a side job. A Sheep 'red light' district if ya know what I mean...

Homer's Mutton Haus !

LOL!

H.

Re: Can you believe this?

Sounds like there is a complete open market for a "Cell Phone Jammer". Thought of this before, but I don't have the knowledge on how to build and market one.

Just think, You drive down the road with the jammer on, and those on the phone would be disconnected within say a quarter mile radius of your car.

This would only be a problem for those that are making emergency calls, but how often are you calling 911 when your driving? If you call in an accident, you are usually stopped at the accident. Then again, you could have the jammer disconnect when a 911 signal is detected.

This could combat the cell phone just like the radar detectors and jammers.

Just an Idea......SS

Well, as long as they don't come up with a law saying you cannot have your way with sheep, while driving your car, Florida is ok. After all, they can't even count sheep in Dade and Broward counties!
Let's not confuse them any further.
:D

Re: Can you believe this?

SS on the jammer deal, you could have it set to dis-connect when a car was stopped also, cause like you said, when you are reporting a wreck, you are more than likely stopped anyway, if not you should be to see if you can help. :)

Re: Can you believe this?

That jammer is a great idea... But what I really need is a device that interrups a cars stereo...

You see, we've got these damn kids with the cars that have the LOUD stereos and they have either no respect for peoples privacy, or their just plain stupid, not too mention probably about half deaf...
($1.98 for the car- $2000 for the stereo) :D

The bass comes right through the walls and floor of my house, all day, all night...

The city posted signs about an ordinance concerning "unreasonably loud stereos" and boy let me tell ya'll, that did alot of good... NOT... Hell, most of them idiots can't speak english let alone read it...

Cops don't or won't inforce it either... Guess their deaf too... It's funny because the Motorcycle cops sit right in front of my house, usually in the morning, writing gobs and gobs of speeding tickets in their little "speed trap", but none for the "unreasonably loud"...

Re: Can you believe this?

Snapperbait, I definitely know what your going through. I have both problems. The speed limit is 25, but the road is wide enough for parking on both sides. We have dump trucks with 11 tons of gravel go by at 45 to 50 miles an hour. We have all complained, but nothing is done.

We also have the noise problem. There are some cars that are loud enough that I can hear them 1/2 mile away when they hit the edge of town. When they go past my house, the windows rattle in my house and you can feel the bass beat in the floor. Someday, we will be paying the support for these kids because they will be totally deaf.
