Yellow Perch are a favorite food of ALL larger game fish. Must be a great reason.
I 1 time caught a perch with the rear treble hook of a bass lure. Fatally in the belly. I cut the perch into 2 long fillets for bass or pike. Surprise as I smelled a sweetness from the fresh cut fillets. I called a Perch nut friend about the sweetness aroma.
"" Meet you at the dock as soon as possible. ""
I roared back to the dock and Victor on his golf cart. He said some perch DO smell slightly sweet when filleted very fresh.
I sure miss yellow perch.

I've cooked turkey a lot of ways. I think my favorite was a brine then jerk rub on the smoker. I'm at the point now where I think I am fine with the once or twice a year meal on it though.

Me too. I remember back in 1975 when I was living in Sandusky OH and my dad and I were visiting my aunt and uncle. A blizzard hit and we were socked in. About 3 feet of snow on the ground. 🌨️❄️⛄

Not much to do but eat and watch tv. My aunt made some home made rolls from scratch and while they were rising, she churned up a big, fresh batch of home made butter. Dannngg... We all chewed on that until we were full. 🍞😋

About 1/2 hour later, my cousin showed up with two, five gallon buckets full to the top with yellow perch filets that he'd caught from Lake Erie while ice fishing. We thought we wouldn't be able to eat any, but when my aunt started frying that fish, the aroma filled the house and we pigged out on fish and bread and had a grand time! Fond memories! 🐟😁😎

Wild turkey can be delicious or it can be strong. If the turkey was eating in the wild garlic, not so good. But if it was feasting off corn and wheat fields or berries, delicious! It can be dry, so brining is always good.

Perch are delicious also … my favorite fresh water fish after walleye.

And as Flathead said, wild turkey are very smart with incredible eye sight. But they can also be a bit goofy.

Always heard turkey pens were made in a circle so they didn't all smother themselves in a corner while walking

You were living in Sandusky at the same time as an old friend was. He lived with his aunt there.

I lived there from 1970 to 1976. I even worked at Cedar Point! 🎢
I boogied out of there in November 1976. Had enough of that cold place.

My cousin and I drove our motorcycles from there all the way to Boca Raton, FL... through the snow!🥶
It was quite an experience. That was the winter when it actually snowed in Miami. ❄️🌨️☃️

It snowed in Bradenton then as well. I was at AnnaMaria elementary at the time. And were out playing in the snow. It happened in the late 80’s as well.
Here is my Christmas dinner. I just need to pick one. They eat out of hand so it would be so easy. 😂

Try the butterball turkey patties, they have to be grilled but they are dang good if you are wanting some turkey. I eat them on dr's orders but they are good.

Inject ours with melted butter mixed with chicken broth. Take out of oven as soon as meat thermometer temperature says so.

Delicious and moist! We eat the whole bird but for the neck and organ meat. Dark Meat and uncarvable white for turkey salad. Dark meat not my favorite but its pretty tasty in drumstick form. Cheap protein at 1.06/lb for whole butterball.

I am tempted to split the bird into 2 attached 1/2s in a double Roasting Bag. So all of the white gets evenly cooked using my new electronic probe to keep track of thickest White Meat section. I will probably Aluminum foil cover the thinner meat areas to prevent dried out areas. We do try. :)

Can't decide if I'm going to spatchcock or rotisserie, but it's about time to put I the fridge. We're eating on the 20th.

Best turkey white meat I've ever had is from wet-brining a turkey breast for 36-48 hours in a simple salt solution. I remove the spine, then inject the breast meat with canola oil (yes, canola oil) and smoking at 225 F for 3-4 hours until internal temp hits 145F. Then wrap with foil and keep in warm (e.g., 170F) oven or smoker for about 30 minutes.

Turkey comes out amazingly moist and actually tastes like turkey -- much better (IMHO) than butter or broth injected turkey, which always tastes a bit 'off' to me.
