Does it matter? Is there any paperwork for the boat (registration/title, etc)? Is there a HIN on the transom somewhere?

Make sure you are aware of the boat registration and titling requirements where you are located, so that you can have proper ownership.

I'm thinking its pre hin number era and I'm trying to find out so I can decide on an outboard to put on it. Need to replace the transom first though

Looks like an old MirroCraft that I had a few years ago, late 50's early 60's styling, often times some states will inspect and then issue a new HIN numbers for the boat, I know they do here, Also I know of a few states that don't even require registration if it is under a certain length and has no motor. The old Mirro that I had was rated at 20 hp and below, I ran an 18 on it and it moved along pretty good, not a speed demon but good enough to get from one fishing spot to another.

First thing I would do, is check with your state to see how to proceed before I spent a dime on it.
