Aloha, I have been researching the make, model and year of my boat and from everything I've read it seems to be a Glasspar/Larson make and either a Flying V-17 or Citation model and late 60's early 70's. And today, low and behold I found a small plate mounted on the transom (11-704967). I've included a picture of the plate and the boat. I'm hoping someone knows how to read this HIN number and tell me what I actually have. Thanks for any help you can give me.

That is NOT a HIN but, it is a serial number. The HIN system came into effect in the early 70's (73-75).

You might not get anymore info except what the model is from another member or possibly from the fiberglassics web site.

Bob is 100% correct. You might play with the lighting angles and use a good magnifying glass . I can almost make out some letters of the printed name that was once above the number. If you can position a few of them in a string then you can play your own version of boat "wheel of fortune'.

A pencil tracing over paper might reveal something as some of them appear to be lightly stamped. Just printed is the worst possibility.
