Can a paint shop custom tint Interlux Briteside?

I am painting a small portion of my boat. A 12" strip that circles the boat with Briteside. Saffire blue is too light and the dark blue is too dark. I have a quart of Saffire but I was wondering if I could have the local paint shop add a tint to darken it up just a bit. An automotive paint place perhaps.

If so, is there a specific kind of tint they should use?

Just add some of the dark blue to the light blue until you get what you want.

While auto paint tint should work, not all pigments and paints are compatible, plus they may charge a flat rate to tint that may be almost as much as getting a small amount of the darker blue.

I would check with the local auto body supply shop. Or a Sherwin Williams, DuPont, PPG rep. Or if you knew any of the painters in your local body shop, ask them. I know of a guy here in Peoria that would do it for you, (if the paint is compatible) and charge you about $25.

thats what I would do, no compatability problems,
interlux is fantastic stuff but...odd.

When I talked to Interlux tech support on the phone, they said there is no tintable base, but different colors could be mixed to get the shade needed. They also said that they were not sure what would happen if tints were added.

You are asking for trouble if you have someone tint this for you.
Just mix different colors together to get what you want.

Sometimes the best answers are right in front of you. I'll buy the interlux dark blue and mix.
