You got my vote for 8,14 & 36. Cotton balls dipped in Vaseline make a good fire starter along with a magnesium striker. Also ditch the tents and go with hammocks.

My Jeep/backpack/hammock will take me to that place of solitude that your RV cannot! I'm old too which makes me appreciate those quiet places even more.

I was pretty much kidding. I am probably same age as you!

I think I only tent camp around once a year these days. I have a full size air mattress that I use in my 4 man that I blow up with an inverter. LOL. it pretty much takes up the whole entire tent. It even has a headboard.

When I do my century bike rides, I sometimes just find a campground nearby. I just need to be comfortable if I am going to be doing a 100 mile ride the next day.

BAHAHA, god I must be going blind as the first thing I see at the top of Bruces tent is the 'MINI" AC unit, then looked closer and there is the trailer behind it.

YUP, to many nights in the bush with just a poncho and poncho liner, luv my amenities (Anyone can be uncomfortable)

Well as far as getting somewhere where my trailer won't go, I have a nice large 4x4 truck as well as an ATV, I rarely camp in campgrounds, normally I am along some nice meandering stream and what is nice about NW Montana, there ain't a lot of people!

What is really nice here in Montana, I can tow the boat and the trailer at the same time, so I can have all the stuff I need.

Trailers are to haul the freezers and butchering equipment, right Lipp? But then, we use the cinderblock motel for our camping needs ... that is roughing it for us! Nothing like a hot shower at the end of a long, cold, wet day in the woods!

I remember back before any of us had trailers, we used to actually haul a flatbed trailer up to the woods and set a portable cabin up for the duration of the season, had a large wood stove as well as several bunk beds for us guys to sleep in, all made out of scrap plywood we picked up along the way, was quite the ugly set up, but kept us dray when needed, then at the end of the season, we would tear it down and through it in the back yard, we look like a bunch of the mooshiners from the back woods of Virgina somewhere!

And kids (grand kids) are who I camp with the majority of the time. I sleep in a hammock at home instead of a bed b/c of a bad back. So when I go camping we take hammocks for everyone and it is just like home....well almost! I never was able to sleep in a tent, too hot, damp, musty, critters and uneven ground. A hammock takes care of all those issues.
