well i have been away from boats for almost 11 years now. it is kinda sad being i lived on a river a for a greater part of my life depended on a boat to get me around. well my daughter is almost 2 and i told my wife it is not fair to neglect her from the same type of lifestyle i was raised on. so after some discussion i sold my sports car. and bought a truck so i can tow the boat. stopped at the local bass pro found the boat that was practical for the budget and 3 hours later we were hitched up and on our way to the river. greatest feeling was the smile on my daughter's face. made it all worth it.

Hi Jim,

Nice rig...Welcome back to boating. It's the same color scheme that I have.

Beautiful family and that smile on your daughter's face is worth a thousand...make that priceless. No doubt that she will have many fun times out on the water. Enjoy her all you can now because, unfortunately, they do grow up like my daughter who is now 23 and lives on her own.:(

By the way, nice pics.

hi hashi thanks for the welcome. well looking at it from your shoes i have a little more time with my daughter being im only 3 years older than yours ;) my dad was the first person i brought the boat to so i could show it off. he is the reason for my love of the water and boats. i don't know where i would be in life without the experience of growing up everyday that i was not in school we were at our camp an on the water. im now looking for a house to buy within a couple of years that is located on the same river i grew up on.

Hey Jimmy,
Welcome back and welcome aboard. I too just got back into boating this spring. I hope you and your family enjoy your boat as much as me and mine do.

Congrats on the new boat. I picked up a 2008 Tahoe Q4SS about a month agao and loving every minute of it. I have 3 kids, 8 yr old son and two daughters, 5 and 2. Seeing the smiles on their face when we are crusing across the lake is priceless.

My son has already learned to kneeboard and the 5 yr old loves the tube. Plus my wife has gotten back into skiing and I have learned to wakeboard.

You just can't beat the memories from spending a day on the lake with the family.

Compare the price of going on vacation once per year ($3000 - $5000) and boating 20 - 30 times ($3000-$4000 per year) and it isn't even a contest.

A vacation provides for a ton of work planning and makes you really tired and gets you a few nice pictures and maybe a few smiles. With boating I can be on a lake within 15 minutes and gas costs maybe $30 - $50 for several hours out but the kids love every minute and the pictures are priceless !

Very jealous. I grew up in south Florida, so at least during the summer I was on a boat almost every day. I have always loved them, and wanted one. Unfortunately, my wife is not so friendly with the water as I am, and has basically forbidden me from getting a good family boat (I still have a 14' fishing boat, under protest from her) until our girls learn to swim well, which will be a couple of years at least since they are 2 and 3 years old. I patiently bide my time when finances, swimming ability, and proper opportunity converge to let me have a real boat.

May you and your family enjoy yours.

My wife is not the best swimmer either...now, when we go out...we find a nice little cove and anchor up. I take my throwable PDF, tie a line to it and attach it to the tube cleat...in the water she goes floating around all day...can't hardly get her back into the boat now.

Ha-ha...Sounds like my wife. She couldn't swim a stoke before I got the boat last year and was very afraid of the water. Now, she constantly wants to go swimming and bugs me all the time to anchor down in a nice secluded cove somewhere. As I cruise the shoreline, she always saying to me...There's a nice cove, there's another. I'm going to have to start leaving her behind...LOL.
