Should you lube a plastic lined control cable, If so with what? Many manufactures say, BUY a new one please.

Experience says buy a new one. If it needs lube, it needs replaced. You may get a little extra time, but the chances of letting you down are greatly increased.

If you think it needs lube, the cable has worn the the sheath somewhere. Spend the $35 and replace it

You're supposed to lube the as rod with white lithium grease.
