Just picked up this 1988 C HAWK .Its going to need a new fuel tank installed,but for now I'm going to run it on 12 gallon portable tanks.What I want to do for now is replace the seat pedestals with a wood/fiberglass base that I can also store the batteries in as there is no existing battery compartments.Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sweet Looking boat. Welcome aboard. I would not recommend riding the boat in my bathroom tub until you investigate the integrity of the floor, transom and stringers.
There is a reason the tank is shot and it's because more than likely you have other related issues of water penetration to the tank and structure.
JMHO ...
You need to test the transom, possible soft spots in the floor and other investigational opportunities like the bilge where you can test and see wet wood.

Transom looks good with not even a stress crack.Only soft spot is around the tank connection access cover.For now I'm just going to cut that out and fit a piece for it. I bought this knowing I was going to have to replace the tank and deck but the deck is not as bad as i thought it would be.Other plans are for a kicker motor and maybe stick steering to run a trot line. I think I did okay for 3k though........

Ahhh I didn't mean to come off so hard on you. Gots to tell though since you mentioned it. My tank cover {removable deck hatch type} was bouncy too! So after a little more digging and a rooted gas tank....Here's what happened next;

I really like the lines on the boat! She is Sharp! Best of luck and looking forward to seeing your progress. Keep sending pics.
