I recently inherited a 1974 25hp evinrude, model 25453M from grandpa. It has been sitting for a while and I've got her stripped down and am starting to put it back together. Only question I have is about hoses. Where does the bypass cover hose run to? Also, where does the nipple on the front bottom of the intake connect? All the old hoses were rotten or gone. Do they both just spit out into the bottom of the motor case under the carb and out the exhaust?
Oh, and while I'm asking questions... When replacing the thermostat do I need to dump a little water under it before I start it for the first time since that motor has been dry for a few years or does it even matter. Probably a stupid question but I've never messed with a thermostat in a boat motor. This project is my first.
