Hey everyone. New to this forum. I'm buying a new boat. This will be the 5th boat I've owned. Because of the many inherited issues of used boat ownership, I've decided to go new. I've owned 3 stern drive, and one seadoo jet boat. The seadoo was by far the most reliable. Even when having issues it always got me home. Only real reason I'm not going jet again is that I'm tired of swimming under the boat to clear the impeller and the beating I take in any chop. I use the boat 90% in a river and 10% on the Chesapeake bay. After considering all my options I've decided on the Tahoe 210s limited with a merc 225 4 stroke XL. I feel the outboard will give me shallow water access, great gas mileage, lots of space, ease of maintenance and repair and pretty good top end speed. I'm not opposed to spending more money for a higher end manufacturer but really don't see what they offer dollar for dollar when compared to this 210s limited. The only real hesitation I'm having is I can't find much about them on any forum. I've only seen 2 used ones for sale. One sold quickly and the other was a bit beat up. With the what comes standard on this boat I don't understand why it is referred to as entry level or value brand. I'd appreciate any insight from 210s owners or Tahoe owners in general as to reliability and customer/warranty support from Tahoe. Thanks much.

A boat is no better then the motor in it. Don't want to ruffle any feathers, but the Tahoe is a entry level boat. There has been many questions placed here about the boat but most all dealing with the motor, not the boat like all other boats. There made well enough, and like any boat its only as good as the motor.

I appreciate the feedback. I have 2 follow up questions if you don't mind. I understand and agree with your comment about the boat being as good as the motor. This is a brand new mercury 225 outboard. I've never had an outboard but have heard this is a great motor. Are you saying these motors have had problems or that you've had a sub par experience with this engine. What makes it an entry level boat. Is it just the price point? From my research it seems that Tahoe generally builds quality products. You are certainly not the first person to say entry level or value brand. Comparing apples to apples the Tahoe seems to have everything the chaparral or similar boats in this class have. I really appreciate the input. I'm trying to make as informed a decision possible when dropping 70k. Thanks for the response and any info you can provide.

Not an OB guy, but have heard they are good motors

Not a price snob, but it is where you start. Bought a 1995 Rinker new and had it for 27 years, just sold this year. It was a very good running boat. Issues where trim, electrical connections, and general hardware. Rinker is also a entry level boat. Look under the helm and in the engine room then compare to Cobalt, Formula and compare to what you see in a Tahoe and Rinker, there is no comparison

Check out the quality of vinyl and other fixtures, will be same result. As before so far as running, there was no problems with my Rinker, but I'll take a Formula any day over the other the cheaper boats. And Formula is way over priced, but I bought mine used.

If you were to go to a boat show and compare the Tahoe fit/finish to other boats there you'd find they're towards the bottom of the heap. Anything you generally can find at a big box sporting goods store (Tahoe, Suntracker, etc) is going to be bottom of the heap so to speak. I'd consider them the modern day version of Bayliner of the 80's.

Not saying they're bad per se as I see plenty of them out on the lake but for my money I'll spend my money elsewhere.

**Bayliner has upped its game in recent years, should really check them out in person if you haven't.

I'm researching a similar model as well. Did you ultimately decide to go with the 210S Limited? If so how do you like it. If not what changed your mind?
