I placed a post a day or so ago and it was a rather lenghty post. To make it short I have a bayliner contessa with an AQ260 the manifold appears to have the paint burnt off of it where the exhaust cross over is the burnt paint is only about maybe 1 1\2 inch square. I did not notice it burnt before but it might of been. The guage never went above the middle (180 ) except for a second or so and I assume that was where the thermostat was opening before the it let water in then went straight back down. Is the burnt manifold a cooling problem or is this normal. Or does anybody have any ideas. Going to go ahead and replace thermostat anyway and maybe water pump and impeller. She has a closed cooling system on her.

Re: Burnt manifold

Perfectly normal. That crossover is where heat goes into the manifold for the choke heater.
Electric chokes eliminated the need for that heater, but the manifold does get hot there and needs hi temp paint to hold up.
