eh...I'm retired,...lots of time on hand....it's a good ,spring loaded, forward pressure stapler.....
most of the force applied to my bunks is front to back when launching the pontoon...and vice veraa..so the ends are stapled....good..
the sides
My boat is a self-built plywood, fiberglassed on the outside of the hull and painted. I'll personally visit HD and Lowes and ask for 2x6x8' untreated and see what happens. No Menards or Fleet Farm stores in our area. Thanks.
and then there's...this..

I checked out that sailrite website. Their stainless steel staples are 21 gauge, which are light duty.

20-22 gauge: Light duty
18-19 gauge: Medium duty
15-17 gauge: Heavy duty

But maybe 21 gauge stainless steel staples are fine to hold carpets on bunks in marine applications. I donno.

My research so far only shows monel staples suitable for marine applications, but should not be used with pressure treated lumber. Have not been able to find stainless steel staples approved for marine applications.

Thanks for the roofing nails tip. Are the roofing nails used for your Karavan trailer stainless steel or hot dipped galvanized? In fresh or salt water?

316 Grade stainless steel narrow crown staples are best suited for tropical, seaside, salt water contact applications, or any project near large bodies of water.

Recommended for all outdoor applications with ACQ-treated lumber, redwood, cedar, and acidic or oil-based exotic woods where Marine Grade fasteners are needed to avoid unsightly stains, streaks, corrosion and discoloration.

Thanks for the link. Are staples with a 1/4 inch crown wide enough to hold carpets on bunks? I see that the commonly use staple is the T50 size that has a 10mm crown (a little over 3/8").

I already have a 1/4" pneumatic staple gun.

1/4” is probably not the best, but I don’t see why they wouldn’t work unless the backing and weave are rather large.
