Have you looked into jack plates? They mount in the location of the existing motor, then you attach the long shaft to the jack plate. The jack plate can then be adjusted vertically to bring the long shaft motor to the correct height.<br /><br />They also come in fixed size for exactly what you want to do. Plus they are much cheaper and simpler than the adjustable ones. <br /><br />See this jack plate in the Mega Mall:<br /><br />

Hi Jacker <br /><br />At $110 it is less trouble than making your own, can be removed without causing any damage to your boat, and comparable to the cost of the pressure treated plywood needed to make your own transom build up. Not to mention the cost of stainless steel hardware, epoxy, fiberglass, etc.<br /><br />Just my 2¢<br /><br />Mark.
