Re: Building an Outdrive Stand

This is what I built. Worked well. I made it longer than needed so I could slide the drive off the boat without having to move the stand. Just 2X2's, glued and screwed. Plenty strong.

Re: Building an Outdrive Stand

This is my stand. It will also be the home of the engine during my restoration of my 1972 Silverline Comoro 17T I/O. The engine will be set on cross braces when it is removed from the hull this next weekend. I will post more pictures at that time.

Re: Building an Outdrive Stand

This thread will never die....

I can't resist posting my improvised stand...I actually bought a U-pod, the yellow plastic stand on the right. Instead of working on one drive at a time, I needed to work on my two drives side by side, to compare wear and tear...

The stand was built in 20 minutes, using large bolts, and nuts from another project...

here it is...

Re: Building an Outdrive Stand

Built this saturday morning. Got the idea when I went to get new toung jack for my trailer from the store. The store desplay had a set up near the same to show how strong it is so I adapted that idea to this.

Trailer still not fixed. I get distracted easy

Re: Building an Outdrive Stand

Here is my outdrive stand.

The height and angle of the drive can be adjusted.

Well, the angle is either horizontal or tilted approx 15?

The height is adjusted with a threaded rod, that has a handle welded on to it.

Re: Building an Outdrive Stand

Having recently picked up a "new-to-me" 1998 16 1/2' FourWinns Horizon QX with a VP 3.0L I/O, I now have need for an outdrive lift/stand. Inspiration from everyone's posts -especially Toolsinbox & JordanFTW (fantastic ideas!) I thought I'd post my evolution... an implement stand, 4 rollers, some square steel tube and a couple plywood runners (to cover the steel and protect the outdrive). This one 'knocks down' a bit for transportation. Outward roller "legs" remove, similar to many shop crane designs, "outdrive runners" un-bolt from the implement stand - which also provides for rotation as long as the drive is manually supported while rotating. (now just to finish it up with some black tremclad)

CraigW, I like how you are able to knock it down so it stores flat.
