Building A Mercruiser 350 Few Questions.

So i decided to use the one in the second picture looks in better condition 24 S. The motor is in boat going to wire it up tomorrow. Does anyone know what the timing should be set at? and long back I remember a boat i had to jump out a wire or something while setting timing?

Fired right up today first try! guess I got the timing close enough ahaha. Now I just gotta fix rest of the boat its such as basket case regretting my decision to buy another boat lol. Basically this thing is being put togeher with random ass parts I have had laying around from past boats/engines plus whatever it came with. The gas tank is full of mostly water top is sunk in a little probably shot easy to replace tho luckly this boats floor comes up all the way only a 40-50 gal tank.
