Re: Bugs and boat lighting

On my Glastron I used the blue because it matched the boat and never seemed to attract bugs. I haven't added any to the 19 yet. I will probably use white under the rails where they can't be seen and will shine only onto the deck. The upper hull is cream. I may use the dark blue ones they have out now. However, they really don't illuminate much other than themselves. (like christmas lights)

Wildcat - that looks like some great packages there.

Just a word of caution, when using red. Keep in mind red is also a navigation color, and depending on if it can be seen from other boaters could make it difficult to navigate.

I use red on my 16 footer out on lake Erie, and just last week had a charter captain approach me to tell me, my deck lights could be seen, and makes it a bit confusing on my direction of travel. He was extremely pleasant, and honestly I had never thought if it before that.

Blue or amber is what the large ships use for area lighting, and is probably not a bad idea to stick with that, especially if boating in a heavy traffic area like the great lakes.

Just my .02
