Just for fun I looked at what Michigan Motorz sells for that engine package (stroker) it's over 5 grand for a long block!
For our old boats in the end you try to do it for a reasonable price vs how many seasons you get out of it. On your engine because it always had closed cooling, redoing what you have makes the most sense $$$ wise. And the re-done heads will add some hp anyway. Are you going with the Barr exhaust? I think its great for the price, made in USA and well cast and machined. All I had to do was remove the paint from the mating surfaces, when I checked them with the straight edge and feeler gauge the .002" would not go in anywhere.
