Bucket List !

[Captain of the Double G's]

I am studying for a captains license, wanted one at 16 yrs old, never got it.
Thought it would be special if I got it now ( at 60+ years ). I probably will not do
anything with it but knowing I have it sounds priceless.
Would like to know every ones thoughts on what they would do
if they had the opportunity to do it, or do it over , what would you have done.
Me, I would have joined the Coast Guard at 18 ( Vietnam war not really ended)
and said " put me on a boat, I do not care if I have to clean toilets "
OK, I probably would skip the toilet thing, but you know its in the mix

First off, go for it, I love to see old guys doing stuff. I wish I had known at 18 just what a wildlife biologist did and what the schooling was like. At 64, I don't see it, but I wish I had gone to college. I listen to a podcast every week called Wild Turkey Science, makes me realise I missed my calling.

There are a lot of things I wish I would have done differently but I have no regrets.
I would go for it if you have the time. If nothing else you gain a ton of knowledge to share with others.

Got my 6pack license at 40 yro. Let it expire 10 years ago.

Life has been very good to me. If I knew back then what I know now, I’m not sure I’d change a thing… except maybe my first wife…lol

Bucket list…

1. Visit Hawaii, Alaska and New Mexico to complete all 50 States
2. Catch a 50” Striper to round out my Mid -Atlantic inshore Trophy Slam
3. Attend a winter solstice celebration at Stonehenge.

Striper and Alaska I am in ! Afraid I would not leave.

All were pre 1990 and in every instance I was to dumb to realise it was def on untill the chance was gone ( they have since told me ) still know them all (Except the orchard girl ) and for one Id even say I pleased it didnt happen ....she married a decent bloke and they both call in home every year or so. One I flatted with ,one I worked with ,ones father I met as a corrections officer when I had to pay for my sin and the orchard girl ....she visited me one night in my workers accommodation and I couldnt figure out why ....untill waaaaay later

Ooooh , I wish I listened to Dianne when she told me not to go riding .......I had just got out of hospital after hernia surgery day before and as she left for work she put her head back in bedroom window and said " and you stay off that fn motorbike " ....I didnt and went to her work to drop off lunch and she was very very upset ,begged me to go home ,said she had a bad feeling , so I promised her I would ....and didnt 15 mins later I slammed into a car that was reversing back up the other side of a humpty backed hill on my side of the road ....damn near killed me .
