I wanted to share with you my latest project. I myself am a graduated for yacht and interior construction.
About two years ago in the corona period I was able to take over a boat for free. Knowing that it needed mega work but I went into the plan with good intentions. I had 0 knowledge of engines and actually almost no knowledge of polyester.
I took over the boat with the knowledge that the engine had to be rebuilt. In addition, the stringers, floor and transom were completely rotten. But still I wanted to give this project a chance since I had nowhere to go and it seemed very instructive.
So there I started completely stripping the boat and repairing and filling in the holes. Had to take a short course in polyester on youtube but so there I went.
Removing the engine and get it rebuild.
Remove the floor.
After this step, I started sanding the entire inside. That was a hell of a job and also a huge amount of work. Then I started to clean everything with acetone. Then I gave the complete inside on all weak spots an extra layer of polyester.
Then on to building the structure. Couldn't really find a good way to build this anywhere so went to work on it myself. For this I used waterproof marine okoume chipboard.
Unfortunately, I also lost the pictures of the transom. But for this I removed the old one from the inside and sanded the polyester bare. Then with two sheets of 18mm okoume chipboard with polyester in between I made a transom. The complete transom was then coated with polyester and epoxy. Then glued the complete transom in with polyester.
Gasoline tank coated with a rubber shake prevention coating. Then sprayed the inside of the transom and the tray that holds the gasoline tank with topcoat and waterproof paint.
Then on to floor rebuilding.
To get the boat to the paint shop, I need to refurbish the training first.
Had the trailer completely sandblasted and coated.
Also the last piece has been cleaned and coated again.
Ready to have the boat repainted!
Currently the engine is ready and completely overhauled.
Now the boat is being sanded and sprayed so I can move on after that.
Currently, I am restoring the tail piece. New water pump, bearing, gaskets, rubbers, bellows and annodes.
