Hi all - first time posting on here and hope i am doing it right.

I hit a log which broke off a piece of one of the wings above the prop. There is no water getting in and gear lube still looks good. It’s only aesthetic (see photo) but I’m wondering what repair options I have. Not looking to buy a new lower unit because of this damage.

Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Kyle

Take it to a local welding shop. They can carve up some aluminum and weld her right up. Far enough from seals and whatnot they just need to control how hot the welding gets things.

The only issue would be the Anode Trim Tab. Finding and welding a piece on would be a synch, Having a Rounded pocket for the Tab would be a challenge.

That's the anti cavitation plate. If you can't sense any difference in how your boat planes up and handles, live with it. It's out of sight in the water. Hang a towel over it while you're wiping the boat down at the ramp. Or install one of those goofy dolphin fin things.

Prop shop is the best place to have it fixed. They do it all the time. Whatever you do, don’t install a huge fin. Many cab plates break because of them.
