Brightside polyurethane painting

Folks,

I have applied this paint with success in the past. Brightside Polyurethane.

1. Painted a boat with the Pre-Kote the Brightside. 2 coats of primer. 3 coats of Brightside with 320 grit between coats. Looked real good.

2. Painted a boat with 3 coats of Brightside (No primer) with Sanding between coats with 320 grit. Went on just as good. Finished product looked good. Minor imperfections visible.

I am now wanting to try painting 3 coats no sanding between. Leave the paint to dry for 3-4 hours to tacky finish then reapply like spraypaint adheres to prior coat. Roll and tip method. Am I totally missing the plot or would this work. Anyone tried this method??? The instructions has no guide for this method. Any advice is appreciated.

Usually the tech sheet for the paint will have a recoat window in it. Following that and no sanding is needed between color coats if u stay within that window..

Seems Brightside doesnt give a window and recommends sanding between. Kinda odd, but maybe it needs to be leveled when brushing

Folks,

I am wanting to figure out if it is best to paint or gelcoat an old boat hull.

- If gelcoat any recommendations for brand or type (i.e. Gelcoat with wax)

- If paint any recommendations (i.e. Poly Urethane top coat or any other economics paint?)

Gel was $600 for my boat (inside and out). Paint would have been $3000+.

If your boat is a trailer queen, you can use enamel and hardener. Your in it for about $150. But can not leave it in the water for more than a day or so

Ayuh,....... Rustoleum industrial enamel, 'n majic hardener is 'bout as cheap as you can get now a days,.....
