Year doesn’t help me. Too many mid year changes and drives get replaced. But if it is a never worked on before 2008, probably due for a complete reseal.
this is good advice. I did my 2004 alpha gen 2 last winter. Picked up fishing line on prop seal. saw some corrosion on the parts took drive apart replaced bearings in the upper as upper bearing in cap was corroded.

In the end I think the corrosion was from the boat sitting before I bought it (was 10 yrs old with 37 hrs) and only the shift shaft seal was dry rotted. the originals lasted 18-19 years, so I figure I am good for another 10-15 years and shouldn't (baring more fishing line) have to go back in again.

What Muc outlines in pervious post, while it may upset customers due to $$ it is really in their best interest if you want to fix it once and use your boat.

Agreed my drive was fully resealed way back in 2006 now it probably needs doing again but that is a LONG time and all the use was in salt water….

I had a brand new from Merc B3 and one of the prop shaft seals started leaking. Merc paid to have seals replaced, just a thing IMO with B3's
