Re: Bravo III lower unit

Usually, the clamps are easier to tighten with pump dismounted. Who cares what direction their going? As long as their tight!

Most people try to get things back "exactly as they them". So later they can say, "I put it back together the way I took it apart". Don't charge me for that, blah-blah! What they don't get is, everything on any given engine is put on & tightened or torqued in PERFECT conditions! When finished, it's shipped to a boat manufacturer & installed in a boat. So much for perfect conditions!

I tighten them a little early and had to loosen them as the hoses wanted to twist while trying to bolt the bracket and brace back on the block. So I loosened them and must not have gotten the inlet hose clamp as tight as needed once the hoses shifted to the correct position.

Just a dumb mistake on my part. The impellar was every bit as bad as the one in the photo and that sock trick worked like a charm. I feel confident that the problem is solved with only some effort on my part and $58.00 with the shipping for the pump kit. It is the wrong time of year up here on lake erie to want replacement pumps or parts from local merchants with boating season just getting started.

Anytime of year is the wrong time but I get your point!
Stay close to home the first time out & you should be good for a couple seasons! Play a little baseball with your grandson, instead of turning him loose your boat! But, I know everybody has to be somewhere!!!!
Have a great time!
