Hey guys so I’m pretty new to boating so sorry if some of my terms are wrong. I posted a pic of the cone clutch and can’t take off the lower piece. I couldn’t shift gears and that is why I went to check this out and was wondering how you take it off or if I can’t take it off because I need to replace it.

That clutch should spin up and off. Clutch is probably frozen to the cup on the gear.

The cone will spin out of the gear if you turn it counter-clockwise relative to the gear. I would try strap wrenches first, then if that does not work, toss the thing in the oven and bring it up to 250 degrees, then spray just the clutch with aerosol duster spray with the can held upside down (freeze spray) to shrink it.That should allow it to spin right off.
