It's easiest to verify out of the water. trim the drive all the way out. In the 'front' of the outdrive where the large flat zinc is located all the way forward on the caviation (anti-ventilation) plate, there is a black tube that connects to the nipple. Alos on the forward part of the outdrive almost parallel ot the pickups is a very small hole.

The Speedo is driven by water pressure. More than likely either the tube has come off, or the pickup hole is clogged. I use GPS, because even when the speedo is working they're not nearly as accurate IMHO and not worth the effort.

I used to have to "unplug" the pickup hole on my BIII pretty frequently. If you hit a soft piece of wood or something it would jam up the hole.. I used an 032" drill bit. I would hand twist the bit until it had just entered the clog, push the bit a little off center and pull out the debris.

Sorry I missed this. Does this help?
