Bravo 3 lube reservoir not draining with outdrive removed

I needed to pull my Bravo 3 outdrive off so I drained the lube oil from the lower unit then pulled the drive. I left the drive off for several days and when I reinstalled it, I was surprised to see that the lube reservoir was still full. Is there a lube check valve between the gear unit and the bell housing? Why would the oil not have drained? I just want to make sure there isn't a clog in the line.
BTW - I read (https://forums.iboats.com/threads/bravo-3-outdrive-not-draining.754217/#post-5745874) on how you should empty the reservoir separately but I am concerned that the lube oil didn't drain out of the reservoir through the bell housing fitting over several days.
Thanks,
Gil

Yes there is a check valve on the bell housing and the drive.
When separated they should seal each side off

True fact

Will add if you want the lube monitor bottle/lines drained its easiest to do with the drive still mounted to the bell housing. Will drain a majority of the monitor system along with the drive this way
