I am getting ready to replace my boat's transom. I have done this before with another boat but I can't remember if there are any adjustments on mounting the inner plate. My MC manual is not clear on the inner plate. It has plenty information describing how to install the outer plate, transom thickness and parallel specifications. The inner plate has up and down elongated holes which provided some "wiggle room" but up and down only. The plate carries the weight of the motor, since the motor rests on the two mounts molded into the plate. The plate rides on the main assemblies' eight 7/16" studs, which stick through the transom. There is nothing in my MC manual describing how to adjust bolting on or aligning this inner plate. I will use boat's outer skin's eight holes as a pattern to drill into new Coosa board (rebuilt transom). Gravity should take over and align the inner plate to press against the transom's studs. But, I am not 100% sure. The removed inner plate had washer indentations into its paint. I could try to realign using these as a pattern, but former owner my not have installed these correctly years ago. The boat has been repowered at least three times. Any suggestion would be appreciated. THX!
