how long school take? sounds interesting!!! where you live? My job is just so physically demanding, lotsa climbing, doc says I prob cant go back to that, but my girlfriend and family would kill me if I did :) Hey you can always do carpentry, home auto work with your hands a bit! :)

the degree is Assoc and took 2 years. you can go a shorter route and just get training for design software but it will be seen in your pay.

full degree involves a lot of math as well as gen ed stuff. 2 years was at a very "brisk" pace. I did 17-18 credits per semester.

it is a fun job for the most part and once you get involved with products you enjoy it is even better.

When you are ready to return to the work force I would post your resume on Dice.com and let them find you. I have been in IT for 15 years and in the last 12 years or so I never applied for a job I just posted my resume and let them find me. I have worked my way up from help desk to managing a team of data management consultants for a $7Bn company. PM me your resume if you want me to take a look,
Yeah I get calls and emails all the time, just cant take any work right now...

EZ I went to school for elec design. than a few years later went back for mech design. I work as a designer. I do mostly engine components and elec harnesses / i/o boxes for very large engines.

it is a great job. lots of jobs avail. I still miss working with my hands some days but this has definite benefits as well.
So you broke your hand, sounds pretty serious, how is it now?

While going to school I worked at night part time.

yep broke the hand, not too terrible, I have had worse breaks. LOL the hand still has a small lump in it and on cold days it acts up. may not have been so bad but about 3 weeks into it healing I was in a car accident and the hand hit the windshield pretty hard and yep broken again.

they tell me at some point in my life arthritis will catch up to me, in many joints and places. not looking forward to that.
