People need money and I have money, I picked up a brand new unfired Rossi combination rifle/shotgun today for $50.00 it is a Rossi, youth model that has a 20 gauge barrel and a .22 long rifle barrel, synthetic stock, carry case and fiber optic sights, I am stoked, it will make a great present for my Grandson! They normally sell for about $200, so I am happy!

Bob, as joyed as I am, I agree, I hope to never see this happen, but I am glad, I got what I wanted, and the family got some much needed money, I was not taking advantage, we were just in the same right place at the same right time. By the way, if it means anything, I had just stopped at the pawn shop.... Looking for anything, after a donation of 10 hams and 20 turkeys to the local food bank! :(

Oh I am jealous of great deals...... and I do understand.

Yes I helped the wife at the Women's shelter last night where they served over 450 toys to people in need and that went on all day today too.

I absolutely love giving at this time of the year.

Congrats on the food donations!! It would be nice to hear donation stories from most of our folks who can afford to do so.

Actually my wife is planning on taking the grandkids shopping next year when they are a bit older and make them pick out toys for children then teach them to donate them to the shelter network.

I have been blessed with a good income and some inheritance $$$. I'm going to make sizeable donations to a local homeless shelter/food pantry, a shelter for abused women and their kids, The Salvation Army, a no kill animal shelter and probably one other that I can't think of right now.

I own a couple of boats so I guess you could hardly call me poor. At one point in time I used to donate $ to charities but with this economy I do not have extra disposable income. I just can't afford to donate $'s. Instead, I try to donate my time helping out at the various shelters either cooking or serving meals or basically whatever they need me to do.

Re: Boy do I love Christmas time...

Where we used to live last year there was an annual food drive for the local bank. What me and the DWwould do is go out and do our grocery shopping but use 2 carts. What went into the first cart also went into the second. On the way back to the car we stop at the vehicle used to identify the drive and drop off one of the full carts.

Then we realized we could do much more. Both me and DW work on huge mega-sized construction projects. We started asking at the weekly safety meetings, explaining that a lot of people live paycheck to paycheck. One missed check means you may need to use the food bank one day. With this little bit of a request we got a lot of support. The food bank here also reuests copies of the bills so they don't get those that are house poor(huge staus symbol house taking all their money). Then we asked to company to match the donations by the workers. The last donation was right around the $18,000 mark. Made us fell good to get that much but made us feel even better when we handed themoney over to a very worthwhile charity.

Aspeck,

I would love to, but I have found a home to give this gun to, I have a neighbor that lost his job 3 years ago and has been busting but to make ends meet, his kids love living in the mountains and they are good kids, they are just good people, never asked for any help at all, so I am going to give the gun to the kids, my wife has made all three kids scarves and we are going to "take them out to dinner" via a gift certificate, in which we will watch the kids for a couple of hours. Good people, I really enjoy living next to them..

It's great we still have people who care. I'm wishing things get better for everyone.
