I need to advise on what to do. The eye hook has started to come out but seems to be pretty secure. How do i go about fixing it without seperating the hull to get access to the back

replace immediately, and don't use clothesline for a winch.

I had this happen. I didn't seperate the hull; I cut a hole in the wall in the front of the boat (which was inside a small compartment) then dug out the foam with a garden tool. replace with SS fittings especially the nuts and washers and put a backing plate in there.

There are hatch covers available to recover the hole. Get it first so you don't cut the hole too big.

I guess I am lucky, all i have to do on my Wellcraft is lift the front bow seat up and have instant access to the bow eye from the anchor locker.

That is no where anywhere near Pretty Secure!
You are seconds from total failure.
And as mentioned, Clothes line has no place on a Bow Eye!

Replace the Winch Strap and the Bow Eye before you even think about taking it on any public road!
The family of the guy behind you will thank you for it! :)

Couldn't agree more. That setup is just waiting for a guest appearance on Youtube

Re: Bow Eye hook problem

You can buy a replacement. You first need to get the old one out. There will be access to it from the opposite side but you may have to remove some decking to get to it. On the inside there will be a backing plate and the nuts for the current eye. (it's an eye not a hook). Remove the nuts if you can and remove the eye. You may have to cut it from the outside and then pull it out from the inside. Once you have the old one out, measure the total bolt length and order a new one.

When you replace it, put a little 5200 on the unthreaded portion or the last inch of bolt nearest the eye. When you slide it in the 5200 will re-create a water tight seal. When you tighten it back up, don't go overboard. You only need to snug it up not sink it in. This is one time where overtightening is not a good idea.
