Re: Bourbon fans

I'm sure you do, but of course Canadian whiskey is NOT Kentucky Bourbon anymore than a lightning bug is a lightning bolt. Bourbon is aged for years in charred, American Oak barrels, whiskey is not. The casks are actually where all the flavor and colors come from. For proof (sorry I couldn't resist the pun) of just how yummy oak barrels make Bourbon, the casks are sent to Ireland after one use to be used in their inferior Scotch Whiskeys. I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but I could never get into Scotch. It always tasted like old men and rotten smoke to me.

Merely stating my whiskey preferences and not wishing to offend :)

Crown black for me. Tho I'm quickly becoming a fan of the 'designer' whiskeys such as Red Stag. I can sip on a glass of that black cherry delightfulness all night.

Having a Crown Royal Black as we speak. Have to admit, I prefer it mixed. For straight up, I lean towards Jamesons or Bushmills Irish Whiskey.

I have a bar in my home that was fabricated solely from bourbon barrels. The colors and aroma of the wood is unique and perfect to lean on when needed.
