Regarding the knife and gun incident, what kind of person get's out of a car with a knife? Then refuses to drop it?

End of story right there. Suicide by cop is my bet, glad no officers were injured!!

Re: Bought myself a ticket

Don't get me wrong as I support the police in almost every instance. I also believe our village/city has some of the best that I've ever encountered. In todays world they have a very difficult job just in dealing with all the different types of people out these.

Suiside by cop, may have been. From the video I've seen it sure looks as if he was holding her in front of him as a shield. Also the video does not reflect that at any time did she bend down to pick something up.

The young woman that was shot was also the mother of 2 small children so I don't believe she was looking to kill herself.

So I'll ask again seeing as no one responded to the question. What about the use of non-leathal force? Tazer! Guess the county or State Police that were on the scene are not issued those in Minnesota.

Tazers are not cheap. All LEOs do not carry them.

Back to the original story, if you would have had to pay the ticket, the payback could have been that you left an impression on the trainee that will make him a better cop.

As for the trailer, I have 3 trailers and 1 valid tag. I have a portable set of lights with the valid tag that I move from trailer to trailer. The lights never go in the water and are always bright and working perfectly. They hang in the garage when not in use. I don't believe in trailing without good lights, seen too many wrecks caused by it. Fate got you out of a ticket, it's your move for safety's sake to get those lights working. If registrations a problem, find someone junking a trailer and get theirs.

Sounds like fraud to me, both what you're doing and what you're suggesting in the last sentence.

Depends on the state. Here in ND you can buy a light duty trailer license/tag without even telling them what trailer it is going on. It is perfectly legal to float it to different trailers. Also, for that class of trailer (I believe it is under 2500# trailer weight), you don't actually need any plate or license, so generally the only reason to actually buy the plate is when you go out of state.

My apologies to the OP, I'm getting up on my soapbox.

NYBo you are exactly correct. The fact is using a tag for one trailer on another is against the law (assuming an officer would go scratching around a trailer to find a VIN number)
Secondly, in FL the law states the lights must be permanently affixed to the trailer. Strike 2 for me.
Strike 3 is using the junk trailers reg. Unless you actually use part of the junk trailer to repair the other one and then scrap the rest so there is no chance of 2 trailers with the same VIN.

However, I will commit these 3 offenses rather than subject others to a dangerous situation where I have no lights, an unsafe vehicle and nothing identifying me as the owner of the vehicle.

As for the law, I realized rather late in life that the only laws are those which you choose to submit to and the only real law is the law of the jungle, survival of the fittest, kill or be killed, eat or be eaten. After all, the law says that 51 out of 100 people can make laws and force the other 49 people to obey BUT where is the law that came before that one that says the majority can tell everyone what to do? Of course the answer is The Law of the Jungle.

The purpose of the law is for the public's safety. That's what I concern myself with.

I appreciate your comments to the OP NYBo, he would do well to consider them. I just think differently.

(getting off soapbox)
