Re: Bought my 1st wakeboard

My first riding experiences and river times were kneeboarding. Good fun. Wouldn't mind taking a turn on one if it were available but just not going to add it to our toys.

add 1 -- I carry out 2 of them each outing!

Nothing better then pulling 2 kids up on kneeboards -- getting two kids water time at the same time!

Along the same line, I was at the river this weekend and saw a boat towing two people on wakeskates at the same time, one had the rope on the tower and one was attached to the eye hook on the back and they were different lengths and it really didn't look dangerous at all and looked like a hell of a good time.

OK. I will reconsider if I come across a good deal on a good quality board, but only because I have two kids and the suggestion hit home. We'll see how it goes as the boys get older and more confident out there without us in the water. Still only 7 and 5.

We ride doubles on the wakeboards. Both off the tower, at the same length. Just gotta be able to ride enough to control your position on the water... and then we can talk/help each other during a set with what we are trying to do.

That would be fun, just like hang out way beyond the wake while the other person does a jump or just stick to surface tricks?

My first, and only, wakeboard trip was when I was 45yrs. old. The key of getting me up was the dead calm waters we were in, equipment, and the guy behind the wheel. I stayed between the wakes the whole time. I had some professionals with me and they had one of the first Ski Nautique wakeboard boats made. Looks like the other professionals agree with my guys about equipment and technique of learning. Have fun.

We did whatever we wish... communication was key. I was with someone I knew.... I would outside toeside, he was outside heelside..... if we were doing a heel side jump... he went, I would wait until he landed and coasted out... he would stay on edge a bit to stay away from the landing zone and I would jump over his way and land... slow up just inside of him... etc.

What you have to do, I keep you eye on the other rider and let go of the rope if he falls. Much easier for the boat to come back and get the ropes to both people.
