I bought a 1984 20 ft hallett mini daycruiser yesterday, I took the wakeboard tower off don't need it, I'm really excited going from my old boat to this one, now I can't wait to drop it on the water for the first time
Make sure you put the bolts back in the holes where the tower was removed. If you sell the boat later someone may find value in the tower. Congrads on the buy. What type of power does she have?
The guy had a 400 sbc built for it with 350hp, it has a alpha 1 outdrive. He said it will do 65+ on the water. I have yet to take it out just got it 2 days ago, here is the motor
That's good info to know, and with my kids I'm sure not going to be running that quick, so I'm sure it should be fine running at normal lake speeds with the family

If it's gonna break, it might not be from high speed- would probably be from hammering the throttle on a hole shot. That's when motor torque would likely do something like fry the coupler.
