If Colorado is "CO" then it's not a Colorado boat

Colorado boat registration leads with 'CL" ... :facepalm:

well it could have meant the Great State of Craigs List.

you might find the manufactures name an serial # on small brass stamped tag attached inside the chain locker - if it's there you must lay on your back to read it off the inside of the combing- good luck

65t means nothing useful... just a model number and t likely means transom

That motor will move you just fine in calm conditions... if the wind picks up, not so much

Might wanna keep your eyes open for a 5-10 hp outboard to add to your collection, assuming you really do have no interest in speed, and possibly a bow mount electric motor with 60 plus lbs of thrust

Awesome thanks for the help! That would be ideal! I plan on keeping my eye on Craigslist :encouragement:

Hahaha, clever!

It would be awesome to find out exactly what this boat is. I might need a little help with this though... I don't know what either of THESE are... lol. sorry. Super noob here. I'll scour the internet and see if I can figure out what the 'chain locker' and 'combing' are.

Thanks again everyone! :victorious:

California . . . No Colorado.

nice project boat, does not really matter what the manufacturer is . . . Maybe for registration purposes. I'd make up a name.

Oh I had another quick question for you guys. I just bought a battery for my trolling motor, can I use a regular car battery charger to charge this thing? This is the battery I bought EverStart Group Size 24DC Marine Battery: Automotive : Walmart.com I know it's not the best, but I don't need it for continuous "trolling", just to get me from point A to point B then I'll drop anchor and start fishing.

Thanks, and good idea about making up a name. I'll probably end up doing just that

yes you can but make sure it is an automatic charger.... you DON'T want to overcharge the battery

I'm in Colorado, and Boat registrations are CL not CO so that is a Colorado registered boat, Contact

Boat Registrations | Colorado Parks and Wildlife

Print the PDF and fill it out, they likely have everything you need including previous owner and boat information their office is located at

Colorado State Parks-Registration Unit
13787 S Highway 85
Littleton, CO 80125

In Douglas County, just south of C470 on highway 85, if you need help locating it PM me

If you are not near that office you can also go to

Boat Registration Locations | Colorado Parks and Wildlife

Good Luck, its not that tough.

Wow that is incredibly helpful! Thank you Lipp! Are you a Jeeper also? I couldn't help but notice the "CJ7" in your name. I've got a 1990 YJ that I've been slowly working on building up (whenever I have the extra $$$). Jeeps and Boats! lol. I'm located in Colorado Springs so I think I will probably end up going to Cheyenne Mountain location since it looks to be the closest to me. Thanks again! :)

Used to be a Jeeper, may be again someday since it appears I am addicted to money pits, LOL

Yeah Cheyene Mountain is probably your best bet, they may be able to help you with some of the info your looking for with your boat since it was registered here.

If you have more pics of your boat it would help though too, you may want to get a small outboard to help you get around, a trolling motor isn't going to move you very quickly at all.

If it was registered in the same state you are in (and it sounds like it was) ask them when you go register it again. There is likely some sort of make/model in the records...

...If Colorado is "CO" then it's not a Colorado boat ...

The Coast Guard abbreviated the states long before the Post Office did, and they didn't talk to each other.
Many states Boat registration numbers do not match the USPS abbreviations.

California = CF (CL)
Colorado = CL (CO)
Delaware = DL (DE)
Hawaii = HA (HI)
Kansas = KA (KS)
Massachusetts = MS (MA)
Michigan = MC (MI)
Mississippi = MI (MS)
Nebraska = NB (NE)
Washington = WN (WA)
Wisconsin = WS (WI)
