I got a used fishfinder listed above and am about to install it.
I have the electric side ran to the fuse box on its own fuse but I have a question about the transponder...( if that is what it is called)
Is there a way to mount this in the boat?
I do not want to drill any holes in my hull so if i could mount it in the boat that would be great. Also, if I do have to drill through the transom what kind of sealer should I use to seal the hole?
What would be the best place to mount the sender inside or out?

you can mount the Transducer in hull if this boat has a fiberglass hull... the best way to do this is to take the boat out on the water and move whatever battery tray or anything that might be blocking you from accessing your hull near where your bilge pump should be located and use a ziplock bag... put water in the bag enough to submerge the transducer in.. you would need your fishfinder completely hooked up and ready to go before you do this. hold the transducer (submerged in water in the bag) level pressed against the bottom of your hull and put the boat in gear at idle to slowly move forward and watch your fishfinder screen to see where you are getting a good solid signal... preferably do this on a lake your familiar with so you can confirm. once you have selected a spot that is giving you good signal use an apoxy to mount the ducer to the hull in that exact location be sure to use a healthy amount and slowly and lightly press down on the transducer against the hull and slightly slide side to side to help work out any possible air bubbles from the apoxy.. i prefer this method as it seems to give better quality readings at higher speeds - good luck

If you decide to mount the transducer on the transom, you DO NOT have to drill through it - just a pilot hole, deep enough for the screws is as deep as you need to go.
