I am purchasing a 1998 Doral 300SE that has never had bottom paint on it. I need contacts in the Dallas Texas area to have this service performed. I have had quotes that range from $ 1,800.00 to $ 3,000.00. Seems like a huge variance, so I am at a loss. I am new to having a boat that stays in a slip, so any help and guidance on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

Hi jhays, welcome to Iboats ;)

I cant speak for dallas area, but around here, the 1800 would be the average price, 3k is way over the top, unless they are filing the tank for you too lol...keep in mind, the ist time a boat gets a bottom coat, is the most expensive, because they need extra prep, a barrier coat, have to set the water line correctly, ect.

whoever u use, I would conform they are using a barrier coat, and verify the product they are using, theres a wide range in prices for the paints...depending on beam size, you shouldn't need more than 3 gallons of antifouling and maybe 2 gallons of barrier...the material cost should be under 1k depending on the brand....most ppl have the 1st time job done by a pro shop, then do it themselves every other year. for ablative paints..(easier to DIY for recoats)

Good Luck

here in TN my 34', 13' beam was $2700 for pressure wash old, repair two gouges, replace zincs on shafts, two coats. Plus the haul out.
