I need some help with my stereo head unit. I just installed a Boss MR1420 stereo in my 06? Sun Chaser pontoon. I used the original wiring harness and spliced the Boss supplied wiring into the originally harness. Everything worked fine the first 3 times the boat was out. Last weekend out of nowhere the stereo just shut off. It still has power to the unit, as the standby light on the stereo is still illuminated.

I?ve removed the faceplate and reattached, pulled the wiring harness on both ends and reconnected, and checked the fuse located on the backside of the stereo (does not appear to be burnt) with no luck. Any ideas on what may be causing this???

If you have power on both the switched and constant leads as well as a verified good ground.. well.. you may have gotten the deck wet without realizing it and fried it.

Good point.

Did you actually test the lead with a volt meter?

Welcome to iboats!

It could also be a sign of low voltage.

Very true story. Measure your voltage level with a multi-meter and report back.

Look real close at the pins in the socket that plugs into the unit, one may of backed out, its been known to happen.
