Booze and boat don’t always mix well.

This guy told the cops just before he was arrested that he had made a navigation error and didn’t see the beach. 😂

"But Ossifer, that beach just jumped out in front of me, I swear....."

Sadly, boating and drinking go hand in hand for a lot of folks.......

A couple of years ago I was on the wharf cleaning fish when a couple of guys and a young fella looked about 10 yr old walked past me, and got in their boat. The smell of weed of them was enough to get you high. They started up the boat, put her in gear and went nowhere, revved up a bit and nothing. They then decided maybe they should untie the boat from the dock first. Scary to think they were bringing a kid along.

Yup, I've been over there a few times, got my boat stuck once when the tide went out.

Here are a couple more pictures . . . Hinckley 40C sport boat, $1Million boat.

Chappaquiddick, home of boozy shenanigans since Ted Kennedy! (And me in my younger days)
Before I had kids I was fishing on Chappy every night. There was no beach access to get back home at the time so if I missed the last boat I was stuck until morning but I didn’t really care. As long as I made it to work on time all was well.
Those were the days. I would never make it past 10:00 pm now😂 its all work and no play to survive here on this dam rock.

When we missed the last ferry from the edgartown side we would first try calling the harbor master to get a ride. If no luck we would borrow a dinghy and leave it till the "morning" (aka noon). If it was still there we returned it. Oddly enough nobody seemed to care that we did this. I imagine when people thought their boats were stolen the harbor master knew where to check first. Not our faults that the bars closed after the last ferry.

In 1976, The Old Man drove the Boat up on the Beach like that. He told me to put the Boat back in the Water, as he went to sleep it off. The Transom was about 10 ft from the edge of the Water, It took a few Hours of digging the sand to make a Canal next to it deep enough, and a few people with Strong Backs and Weak Minds to push the Boat over(I had dug a lot of Sand out from under one side of the Hull)

Yea that was common back in the day and no big deal but now days there would be a big investigation and you would be labeled a boat thief on social media. I once grabbed the wrong dingy in the early more hours and when I got back to the morning it had been replaced with mine and a note that said please use your dingy.
