Bomber Boat Sits Low On Trailer

I have a 1982 Bomber Bassmaster 15 1/2 boat with a Bomber trailer. My problem is if you let the motor all the way down, the skeg of the motor hits the ramp. I have never had a boat motor do this before. Could it be the bunks are not bracketed right? What might be an easy fix?

Every bass boat I have owned is like this and I wouldn't have it any other way! It's an advantage, you can launch in very shallow water which is typically where the bass boat shines.

My motor is only down all the way when the water is deep enough to warrant it. Why do you want to have it down when launching?

The problem was caused when the power tilt on my motor quit working. So either I had to lower it down before I launched or lift it & put it on the trailering bracket & then after launching pull it up off the bracket & lower manually. And with a 70 HP for an older guy it wasn't easy.

The only real solution is to replace the broken tilt and trim parts, it seems to me. Boating is expensive.

Well, that sheds a bit more light on the actual problem.

If money is tight, you could look into one of those motor tilt aids. It's basically a lever for helping tilt your outboard. A slightly bent pipe that engages the rear handle on the motor housing and gives you quite a bit of leverage to help tilt the motor up- assuming the hydraulics are disengaged and not preventing it from tilting. Heck, you could make your own if you're handy.
