Each year for the past few years boats have been brought to a family event. Normally there is one larger bowrider that pulls the adults and older kids for tubing or wake boarding. Some of the people throw the boat owners money for gas which no one asks for but is nice. This year was a bit different something changed in peoples minds and only 3 people gave money, and now a bunch of family members are upset about it. Since boats started coming to this event there has been 2 families that have 3+ kids each that have rode for free and now people are pissed off about that. They are saying those who ride should help towards gas so for next year they want to add the gas money into the food bill that is split among the older cousins. After seeing a thread on here about the legal part of it in the US does anyone know about it for Canada? I don't think it is a bad idea if everyone who will be paying votes on it. Would this be legal/ would we run into any serious liability issues? Each boat owner is already insured like most here are for liability but not commercially. I figured I would check into if it is legal before the family goes forward with the idea and the boat owners get put in a hard spot.
