Re: Boating the MS river

Those big barges to throw a big weird wake. It doesn't come from the sides, but starts about 1/4 mile directly behind the tow with some BIG (5 - 6 foot) WIDE rollers. Passing one moving upstream in a narrow channel still makes me a little nervous.

Haven't seen any out on the Mississippi my last two times out though, it's been relatively calm out on the river up here just upstream of St. Louis. A little debris, but not too much traffic.

@ The Vision :Have already done the skydiving, but I think Ill pass on the bungee jump. Had a friend who's primary ankle strap broke. Waist strap saved him, as far as jumping in down around there in a pontoon uhhh thanks but no thanks but I do appreciate the offer.

@ Incoop: Thanks, Me too. First and last trip up there in a pontoon. Cabin cruiser or something of the like I would do it again though. I put a lot of work into that boat.Built the furniture myself, New deck, carpet, Bimini top, paint, plus all the little things.
This boat has 2 names. I call it "Timbers Be Shiverin" My wife calls it "The Other Woman"

@TimBobComHavent been on the river that far north. I ve heard it is pretty bad from St. Lois on down though.
