Re: Boating on a River vs a Lake

We have so many fantastic lakes within an hour and a half of the house we rarely go to the river, but sometimes we get a wild hair and head out after work on a Friday, cruise to a sandbar while some burgers and brats sizzle on the grill, beach at said sandbar and splash around, check out baby turtles, play horseshoes if there are others boaters there and just have a great family evening. Then we cruise back to the ramp after dark and enjoy the city lights along the river. I highly recommend it.

Completely agree. It's the one thing I really do love about Tulsa/Broken Arrow. Pick any direction from Tulsa and drive for an hour and you will be at a different lake. NE Arkansas is much of the same, especially with Beaver nearby.

Yeah, sorry slip of the keyboard. NE OKlahoma/NW Arkansas. Arkansas is general has a ton of fantastic lakes.

Yep. We're so spoiled. Any given Saturday we can hook up and head to Ouachita, Catherine or Greers Ferry. Ouachita's our favorite of the close lakes. Table Rock is the admiral's overall favorite and probably mine too, but it's three hours into the Ozarks so it's not really a viable day trip destination. We've been know to sneak up there for a few days in the summer. I actually grew up in northeast Arkansas and Norfork was the main destination for those folks. Not sure why since Greers is actually a little closer.
