mrseagle loves boating and boating activities our kids are 24 and 20 and were not raised on the water they sometimes go but mostly it is the wife and I,my side of the family came up for a couple days over the summer they had a great time and talking about next summer:,but what I loved about it was taking my Dad by boat to get his paper at 7 am that was a great morning

My wife and 2 boys had never been in aboat, until we went to a on the water boat show/test ride. THe test ride was LESS tha a good eperience, BECAUSE the driver had NO CLUE how to cut a wave. (About bounced my youngest out of the boat).

Wife can't swim across the width of your mnitor screen. I bought a deck boat at a show (a new one). Decided that I did NOT want to pay the personal property taxes on a new one in my county, so we bought a NICE used f/s.

I checked the net every day after purchasing the used boat, and kept a close eye on the deck boat I didn't buy.

Long story made short. I bought the deck boat. (It is a f/s as well). y youngest want to be a pro-fisherman. SO, overall............ it has been a good choice.

Boating has been a great family activity in my house. Prior to children, I enjoyed motorcycles and really liked the solitude that came with it. Well, 5 years ago my daughter came along and my wife pointed out that my motorcycle wasn't exactly a family friendly activity but a boat would be wonderful. So, I sold the motorcycle and we used the money towards a house (we were renters at the time). After being in the house for a few years, my wife starts reminding me that a boat sure would be nice. I complained about the cost, not just of the boat but the maintenance, storage, gas, launching fees, etc. After enough prodding, I finally decided to start looking. Once that happened, it was over. We ended up with a great bow rider that is family friendly, plenty of power for skiing and tubing, and now we can't get off the water on the weekends. My daughter loves it, and we just added a little boy to our family that is now 5 months old so he will grow up boating as well. Can't wait to get back on the water once this Wisconsin winter garbage is over!!!

Your children will be a very priveleged few.

They will be able to speak, with authority, about what boating and the waterways are all about.

brought the bay liner home, got it out on the lake wife love it until we ran out of gas, then started having over heat troubles, she loves it some times, Get a new boat, bring it home, she falls off the ladder getting out of it, fracture her wrist so bad that she has to go to NYU for a surgical team to reassembled it. Misses work from may 1 until Sept 1, and has therapy 3x a week all summer.

bought the boat for me and my love for sailing the kids help me work on it and sail it alike we've learned alot together along the way some love it others not so much but thats OK " you pay and play or you stay home"

I admit I got a late start in boating, I was almost three weeks old before I got my first boat ride
My niece and nephews don't seem to like the boat much they always want to get drug behind the boat in an old tube.
my big question is, why do people act shocked and upset when i start talking about hook size and how much weight to use to get them to the proper depth?
someone mentioned having people drive to a beach and the boat meeting them there, we have a nice beach park on Dallas lake, roped off swimming area, playground picnic area nice area to anchor we use that quite abit although there is some sort of hard stuff covering the lakes were hoping clears up soon

Boating has definitely given our family more quality time & relaxation. My 2 sons are grown up now but enjoy hanging out on the lake with us when they have the time to.

We just purchased our 2nd Maxum Cruiser and are looking forward to many days & nights being spent on it! This is our 5th boat overall.

There is no substitution for time off spent on the water!!!!!

As a kid my Dad had several different kinds of boats and I worked at a boat dealer. thought I would never use the experience but enjoyed boating. as an adult have owned 5 boats and my kids are now 11 and 14. This year should be our best year yet. I plan on dry stacking it because I think wwe will use it more. Perfect world would be in a slip on a lift at the lake but I'm not there yet.

I remember great times as a kid. My Dad had an old Formula Jr. Thunderbird that I learned to ski behind, late 60's model. Man I wish I could find one of those to restore. It had a 6 cyl mercruiser. Nice boat.

I will always keep a boat, it's just a fact of life and, hey, what if it floods?

When growing up, my Dad didn't have a boat, but he took advantage of every opportunity to take us kids fishing. Occasionally, he took several other boys in the neighborhood along with us. Mom and my sister didn't like fishing though. Oh well. I have lots of fond memories of those trips and so do my old friends. Dad is 76 now and still loves to fish. Til this day, when we get together, we still swap fish stories. Mann, I can't wait to go fishing with him this Spring!

I was brought up by a traditional Montana fly fisherman. Never encountered boating until a few years ago when a co-worker buddy started intoducing me to delta striper fishing. I was hooked and purchased my first boat last year.

Boating has brought a whole new dimension to family outings and much more productive fishing. Like the great memories I have from my childhood visiting Montana and enjoying fabulous stream fishing, I hope to bring equal future memories to my kids without having to drive 2000 miles.

As a father it is always dificult, as busy as life is, to have your sons attention for any length of time. I have found those quiet moments, waiting for another bite, to be the ideal time to discuss life and get a better grasp on where they are at. Perhaps because they are surrounded by water and have no choice but to talk about it, or swim for shore Either way we have always come back from a trip closer somehow.

My wife HATES my boat, she also wants me to sell my lake house which was built by my grandfather, given to my father, now me. This is the only thing we argue about. She tells me if I sell the boat and the house I could purchase a new Corvette. Although I would love the Corvette I cannot part with the house or the boat. Also have two children(18 mos, 4mos) who (I hope) will enjoy the lake as much as I did as a child. I just keep telling myself the kids will love this place and will tell their mother the same and spend the summer at the lake.

A wife that makes you go out and buy a boat! Do you have any idea how many guys on this forum just fell in love with your wife???

I know... looking back at that it does sound a little crazy but I can be a bit scrooge-like when I know we are buying a giant hole in the water where all our money goes. Little did I know how much I was going to enjoy it! Not only did she insist we buy a boat, but she's become quite adept at driving it up on the trailer. After only one season (with a few minor learning mishaps of course) we have become a good team at the launch, getting in and out quickly and even looking like we sort of know what we are doing.

I had the whole family on the boats i have owned this is the largest.

My wife will go maybe once a year and only on a calm day and warm but not to warm.

If the boat sank tomorrow she wouldn't care thats why i have a 16 footer, and a 14 foot jon boat.

The only one who could stay on the water all day and night in my family, would be my 13 year old, no bad weather even effects him. I believe he will be a boater for the rest of his life.
