Re: Boat Wiring Question

...Since I only use Ancor crimps, I tried their tool. Worked way better ...

You reveal an inherent problem in the ANCOR crimper: the ANCOR crimper is designed for their terminals. That this crimp tool only works properly with terminals designed specifically to be crimped on that tool is a severe limitation.

Better to have a tool that is properly designed for the job than a tool that isn't designed to do any job well(Home Depot bought). All good quality crimpers are designed for a certain type of terminal. That is why quality crimpers come with various mandrels depending on the type crimp you are using.

Have anything else you want to bash me about or are you about done?

Re: Boat Wiring Question

I use a Deutsch crimp tool with Deutsch connectors, a T&B crimp tool with T&B connectors, and an AMP crimp tool with AMP connectors. However I use an S&G crimp tool on Delphi/Packard connectors

The KLIEN TOOLS crimper has been designed to crimp terminals. It has been doing that job quite well for decades. Much of the work done with that tool is subject to regulation by electrical codes and to inspection by lawful electrical inspectors, who certify compliance with the electrical codes. I have never seen any electrical code that prohibits the KLIEN TOOL crimper from being used in electrical work. Perhaps you could cite such a prohibition, if one actually exists.

Again you change the subject away from boating and electrical. At your insistence, I will reply to your off-topic inquiry:

I cannot be "done" because I have never started. I have not made any derogatory a comments about you. I have made a few comments about your condemnations of widely used tools and about the particular tool you have recommended. You should not be surprised that others hold different opinions, have different experience, or have different results. The purpose of these discussions is to share information about boating electrical topics, not to share opinions of the other participants.

Re: Boat Wiring Question

Say fellas, why don't we get back to the discussion whether to solder or use connectors and not have a spirited discussion about who makes the best crimping tool. We're veering off track...
